20,000 Martial Artists From 24 Schools in Banten Break MURI Record
BANTEN, FOKUS NEWS - As many as 20,000 martial artists from 24 schools in Banten broke the MURI record. Tens of thousands of martial artists are members of the Paguyuban Peguron Serang Banten (PPSB).
The Banten martial artists broke the MURI record by demonstrating the Tapak Karuhun technique.
Tapak Karuhun is a combined technique of the three largest silat styles in Banten. Namely, Terumbu, Bandrong, and Cimande.
Tens of thousands of martial artists in Banten broke the MURI record at the Maulana Yusuf Serang Stadium, Ciceri, Serang City, on Sunday, December 17, 2023.
The Chairman of the Paguyuban Peguron Serang Banten, Brigadier General Pol Nunung Syaefudin, said that the Tapak Karuhun technique attraction had never been done by any silat organization in Indonesia.
“So we always break this record for the second time, today we can break the record for the most silat machete technique, which is 4,000 and the participants who attended 20,000 people,” he said when interviewed after the event.
In addition to breaking the MURI record with the most Tapak Karuhun techniques, the event also campaigned to the public, especially the champions and clerics, to guard the 2024 Election peacefully.
“This event works together with the Provincial Government and the Banten Regional Police, we hope that there is a role for this champion community to guard the peaceful 2024 Election,” he said.
Nunung said that he did not want any conflicts in Banten because of the Election, let alone divide the life of the community.
“We consider differences as part of democracy,” he said.
In addition, he also said that the Banten Regional Police would provide a quota to enter the National Police for young people who are proficient and focused on silat.
“The Regional Police Chief will provide a quota to enter the police because he is impressed by the role of the Banten champions, he will provide a quota that we also don’t know what his authority is, we will coordinate with IPSI later,” he said.
At the same place, the Acting Governor of Banten, Al Muktabar, said that there were many things that cultural activists could do to dedicate themselves to creating a conducive situation.
“This is very good with a cultural basis, there are many things that we can dedicate with this culture, this agenda is in order to support a conducive, safe and peaceful situation,” he said.
