FOKUS NEWS
- The Health Office of Lebak Regency, Banten Province, referred 13 people with mental disorders (ODGJ) to the Mental Hospital (RSJ) dr H. Marzoeki Mahdi Cilendek Bogor City for treatment and medication.

“We cooperate with RSJ dr H Marzoeki Mahdi to refer ODGJ from poor families,” said the Head of the Lebak Health Office Triatno Supiono in Rangkasbitung, Banten, on Friday.

The treatment and medication for ODGJ are in accordance with the Law number 18 of 2014 on mental health, which states that mental health efforts are carried out through promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative approaches that are implemented in an integrated, comprehensive, and continuous manner together with cross-sectoral partners to realize the degree of public health.

The treatment and medication at the RSJ are the government’s attempt to provide health care for people with severe mental health problems.

“We hope that with the treatment and medication, the people with mental disorders can recover and mingle with the society,” he said.

He said that the ODGJ who received treatment and medication at the RSJ Cilendek Bogor City should be monitored by their families to take their medicine after returning home.

Because, the subsequent treatment can be handled by the nearest health center, so the family can supervise them to take the medicine so that their disease can be controlled.

In addition, motivation and support from the family and society by avoiding stigma, discrimination and stress factors that can trigger their disease must be done.

“We hope that the rehabilitation of ODGJ by referring them to the RSJ can heal and increase the productivity of the patients,” he said.

Triatno mentioned that currently there are 18 ODGJ in Lebak Regency who are shackled, but only 13 patients who are referred to the RSJ dr H Marzoeki Mahdi Cilendek Bogor City.

However, the ODGJ patients who are not referred to the RSJ Cilendek Bogor City are done independently with the condition of meeting the physical and administrative requirements.

According to Triatno, the ODGJ who are referred to the RSJ Cilendek Bogor City receive free treatment and medication from the local government. This is a form of attention and responsibility of the local government for the health of the people, especially ODGJ.

“We thank the RSJ dr H Marzoeki Mahdi who have accepted the ODGJ from Lebak Regency. We hope this cooperation can continue,” he said.

He also urged the public not to shackle ODGJ, but to report them to the relevant parties to get proper treatment. Because, shackling ODGJ is a violation of human rights and can worsen their mental health condition.

“We invite the public to care for ODGJ and give them positive support. Do not let ODGJ be isolated and marginalized from society,” he said.

Thank you. I will continue writing from the last paragraph that was cut off. This is the continuation of my article:
