Tangerang Selatan to build waste-to-energy plant with investors’ interest
The project is part of the national strategic plan and aims to be completed this year
The city government of Tangerang Selatan claims that many investors are interested in the project of building a waste-to-energy plant (PLTSa) at the final disposal site (TPA) Cipeucang, Serpong. The project is currently in the process of completing a feasibility study.
“We are finishing the feasibility study,” said the head of the environmental agency of Tangerang Selatan, Wahyunoto Lukman, on Tuesday, January 2, 2023.
He explained that the PLTSa in Cipeucang is part of the national strategic project. “The interested investors are many, they all promise the most environmentally friendly and the cheapest technology,” Wahyunoto added.
According to him, the system of selecting investors will be done by tender or auction. The PLTSa project in TPA Cipeucang is targeted to be realized this year as well.
It is known that Tangerang Selatan is one of the selected cities for the national strategic project of PLTSa based on Presidential Regulation Number 35 of 2018. The regulation regulates the acceleration of building waste management installations into electric energy based on environmentally friendly technology.
Wahyunoto said that if the project is implemented, the return on investment will be done by tipping fee. In the study conducted by his agency, from the results of the feasibility study, the tipping fee of PLTSa from TPA Cipeucang is around Rp 550,000 per ton.
Half of that amount will be borne by the central government. This also refers to the same regulation.
Wahyu said that after conducting the feasibility study, his agency had found the results of the tipping fee that would be issued.
“The investment is from the investors and our feasibility study yesterday was almost 2.1 trillion rupiah,” he said while adding the comparison of the value of the PLTSa project, “If we use the regional budget for a year, we won’t get paid, it’s gone there.”
