Experience of Receiving Feedback, When Did It Happen?
As a Transformative Teacher, understanding and responding to feedback is a crucial part of our professional journey. Every piece of feedback we receive, whether from colleagues, supervisors, or students, offers an opportunity for growth and improvement.
What Is Feedback?
Feedback refers to the responses or comments we get from others regarding our actions or performance. In the field of education, feedback is often given to help teachers enhance their teaching methods, approach to students, or other professional skills.
My Experience of Receiving Feedback: When Did It Happen?
One of the most significant moments in my teaching career occurred during the middle of last semester, specifically in March 2024, when I received feedback related to the use of technology in teaching. At that time, I had just experimented with creating educational videos using the Kinemaster app. Initially, it was simply a personal experiment to present materials in a more engaging way for my students.
What Specific Feedback Did You Receive?
After presenting the video during a faculty meeting, the principal and several colleagues provided constructive feedback. They appreciated my creativity in integrating technology but also offered specific suggestions, such as improving the audio quality and ensuring that the content delivery was clearer and more accessible for students. This feedback was precise and targeted, helping me identify areas for improvement.
How Did You Feel When Receiving This Feedback?
Receiving feedback can evoke mixed emotions. Initially, I felt a bit anxious and worried about how others might perceive my work. However, after hearing their responses, I felt incredibly motivated. The feedback wasn’t just criticism; it was a push to do better. I felt fortunate to have guidance from colleagues who genuinely cared about my development as an educator.
The Impact of Feedback on Personal Growth
This feedback became the catalyst for me to take technology integration in my teaching more seriously. I began enrolling in online courses to learn how to create more professional videos. Encouraged by the principal, I even entered a district-level educational video competition. What started as a hobby has now become an integral part of my teaching strategy.
This experience strengthened my resolve to participate in the Transformative Teacher program. I believe that with constructive feedback, we can continually grow and contribute more to the educational field. Being part of the movement to build a better education system is a source of pride, and I hope to keep learning and sharing best practices with fellow educators.
In conclusion, feedback should be viewed as a golden opportunity to improve ourselves. When did it happen? It could happen at any time, as long as we remain open to listening and learning. How did you feel? Let those feelings become the positive energy that drives you to keep progressing and becoming better.
