Saruni Eye Clinic and BPKH Provide Free Cataract Surgery in Pandeglang

PANDEGLANG
| FOKUS BANTEN – Saruni Eye Clinic in Sukaratu Village, Majasari District, Pandeglang Regency, is holding a free cataract surgery program for low-income residents.

This social initiative is made possible through the support of the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH), which consistently promotes healthcare activities.

Clinic owner Darmawan M Sophian said the free cataract surgery is a tangible form of care for patients who often face financial barriers.

“Many cataract patients in Indonesia delay surgery due to economic constraints. Through this free program, we hope they can regain clear vision and improve their quality of life,” Darmawan said on Monday, September 22, 2025.

The clinic targets 100 cataract patients, particularly from low-income families. All surgery costs, including medication and post-operative care, are fully covered by BPKH social funds and clinic support.

“Our target is 100 patients, especially from underprivileged families. Hopefully, this small step can help ease their burden,” Darmawan added.

The program has been warmly welcomed by the community. One participant, Rodiah, expressed gratitude for regaining normal vision after the free surgery.

“I have long wanted surgery but had no funds. Alhamdulillah, now I have been helped. May Allah reward the kindness of all involved,” she said emotionally.

Through this collaboration, Saruni Eye Clinic and BPKH reaffirm their commitment to providing inclusive healthcare services and contributing to reducing blindness caused by cataracts in Indonesia.

Current status: The free cataract surgery program is ongoing, with registration open for underprivileged patients until the quota is filled.
