Banten Governor Commends South Tangerang Police for Anti-Brawl Program

SOUTH TANGERANG, FOKUS NEWS – Banten Governor Andra Soni awarded the South Tangerang Police for implementing the Anti-Brawl Prevention Program (Cegah Tawuran/Cetar) and the Integrated Neighborhood Security System.
The award was presented during a visit to the South Tangerang Police headquarters on Jalan Promoter No. 1, Lengkong Gudang Timur, on Sunday (January 4, 2026).
Efforts to Reduce Youth Brawls
Andra Soni said the two programs contributed to a reduction in public order disturbances, particularly youth brawls in South Tangerang.
He noted that Banten Province has a unique law enforcement structure, with its territory falling under two regional police jurisdictions.
"Banten Province is unique. Its jurisdiction is divided between Banten Regional Police and Metro Jaya Regional Police. There are eight police resorts whose operational areas cross administrative boundaries," Andra Soni said.
According to him, coordination between the provincial government and the police has run smoothly during his more than 10 months in office.
"As the central government's representative in the region, communication with local leaders and the South Tangerang Police has been very fluid," he added.
South Tangerang as a Diverse Urban Area
In his remarks, the governor also highlighted South Tangerang’s demographic diversity and its role as part of the Jakarta metropolitan buffer zone.
"South Tangerang is a miniature of Indonesia. All ethnicities and religions are represented here," Andra said.
He stated that changes in youth brawl patterns require security approaches that adapt to current social dynamics.
"Brawls today no longer occur at specific times. They can happen at night as well. Thanks to the Anti-Brawl Program, the number of incidents has significantly declined," he said.
Police Report Significant Decline
South Tangerang Police Chief AKBP Victor D. H. Inkiriwang expressed appreciation for the support from the Banten Provincial Government.
"We thank the Governor for supporting and encouraging the programs of the South Tangerang Police," Victor said.
He explained that youth brawls remain a key public security concern addressed through preventive measures such as counseling and continuous guidance.
"A total of 6,625 activities have been carried out, resulting in a 60 percent reduction in brawl incidents. There has also been a 40 percent decrease in fatalities and serious injuries caused by brawls," he said.
In addition to the Anti-Brawl Program, the South Tangerang Police have established 328 Integrated Neighborhood Security posts and continue to conduct routine preventive patrols.
