Ferry passengers increase by 20% during Christmas holiday

PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry reports smooth operation of 30 ships across Java and Sumatra
PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) Branch Merak, Banten transported 47,416 people to Bakauheni, Lampung on the fifth day after Christmas or Saturday (30/12).
The Head of Public Relations of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry Branch Merak Putu said that the crossing activity from Java to Sumatra ran smoothly by operating 30 ships.
The number of passengers who crossed during the five days after Christmas reached 47,416 people or increased by 20 percent compared to last year’s 39,589 people.
Meanwhile, two-wheeled vehicles that crossed reached 4,067 units or increased by 70 percent compared to last year’s realization of 2,399 units.
Four-wheeled vehicles reached 4,773 units or increased by 11 percent compared to last year’s 4,293 units.

Buses that crossed reached 343 units or decreased by 1 percent compared to the same period last year’s realization of 348 units.
Likewise, logistic trucks that crossed from Merak to Bakauheni reached 2,442 units or decreased by 7 percent compared to last year’s 2,621 units.
The total number of vehicles recorded was 11,625 units that crossed from Java to Sumatra on the fifth day or increased by 20 percent compared to the same period last year’s realization of 9,661 units.
Thus, the total number of passengers who crossed from Java to Sumatra starting from seven days before until five days after Christmas recorded 567,070 people or increased by 9 percent compared to last year’s 521,402 people.
For the total number of vehicles that crossed, it recorded 130,484 units or increased by 12 percent compared to last year’s 116,333 units," he said.
He said that Merak Port operated 30 ferry ships with 105 trips or round trips from Merak Port to Bakauheni before the New Year holiday.
“We prioritize the best service with smooth, comfortable, safe and secure arrival at the destination,” he explained.

Meanwhile, some passengers who wanted to cross to Bakauheni Port said that they could be immediately transported to the ship without any long queues.
“We and our family went back to our hometown in Kota Bumi, North Lampung to fill the New Year 2024 holiday,” said Romli (45), a Jakarta resident.
